Set Apart Unto Good Works

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. 2 Timothy 2:20-21

God is always looking for men that He can use and His criteria is largely based on a man’s lifestyle. Psalm 45:7 says “You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”, A man who hates or separates himself from wickedness and chooses to exercise himself unto righteousness is the right candidate to be used by God. Of course, Jesus paid the price for our salvation, but there are things we can do to qualify ourselves as worthy vessels unto God.

Holy Express

A term commonly used to mean set apart or separated is Holy. In this new dispensation of grace, our sacrifice is by faith in the finished work of the cross. Apostle Paul urges us in Romans 12:1 to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable unto God, for this is our true and proper worship. You can separate yourself from bad company, certain habits, music, Tv programs or certain conversations. To be set apart may also mean being mature enough to live as uniquely instructed by God.

Consecration (separation) is important because God is not just with us, He lives in us through the Holy Spirit. We should therefore be careful not to quench the Holy Spirit, if we desire to be conduits of the anointing and the power of God.
