He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Psalms 91:1-2
The most powerful secret of prevailing prayer is found in Psalms 91:1. Notice the use of the word “dwells”. In other words, the man who will walk in the victory given to him in Christ Jesus must remain on his knees. In Luke 18:1, Jesus spoke a parable to His disciples, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart. The second most powerful secret of prevailing prayer is brokenness or humility. A genuine acknowledgement that you are incapable of doing anything without the help of God sets you up for the help of God.

Psalm 51:17 says that “My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.” God will not despise a man or woman whose trust is in Him. For He resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
This means that it takes humility to enter the secret place of the most high God, but it takes discipline to make it your dwelling place. Prayer is not just about telling God your needs, it’s also about keeping silent in meditation, ready to hear what He will say to you.
